Краткое описание Вашего события | Brief Description:
The German Marshall Fund, in cooperation with Freedom House, the Foreign Policy Initiative, the National Democratic Institute, and the International Republican Institute, invites you to attend a panel discussion featuring Voices from Belarus – a group of seven Belarusian citizens, civic activists, and political figures offering first-hand testimonials of the post-electoral crackdown and the Lukashenka regime’s tightening grip. Discussants include:
Dr. Irina Bogdanova, the sister of jailed presidential candidate Andrei Sannikov
Eva Neklayaeva, daughter of jailed presidential candidate Vladimir Neklayev
Alekander Kozulin, a former candidate for president
Alaksiej Janukievich, a leader of the Belarusian Popular Front party
Dzianis Sadoukis, a manager of the Belarusian Christian Democrats
Yulia Slutskaya, former editor of Kamsamolskaya Prauda u Belarusi and
Dmitri Makarov, a leader of Russia’s Youth Human Rights Movement which observed the crackdown.
This group brings a unique array of perspectives on the situation in Belarus and is in Washington this week to argue for continued and sustained pressure on the regime. In particular, they will discuss what actions in the West are most likely to have an impact in the beleaguered European country. Please join us at 3 pm on Wednesday, February 16th at GMF Headquarters (1744 R St NW) for a interactive discussion on the prospects for change in Belarus.
Please RSVP to Ben Russell at fpintern
or (202) 683 2655. I hope you can join us!
