Краткое описание Вашего события | Brief Description:
Warsaw International Donor Conference “Solidarity with Belarus”
On 2 February Warsaw will host the International Donors’ Conference «Solidarity with Belarus». The recent incidents in Belarus during which the Belarusian authorities brutally cracked down on post-election protesters and detained hundreds of democratic opposition members only confirm Belarus’ complete disregard for the fundamental European values. Repressive tactics were employed towards opposition leaders, their supporters, journalists and ordinary people all of whom are now in desperate need of help. Belarusian society has confirmed its European aspirations and the readiness to build democracy. It is now the international community’s responsibility to respond to that message.
The International Donors’ Conference is crucial in forming the policy towards Belarus. Poland is the initiator of the idea that the discussion on the policy towards Belarus ought to be accompanied by financial obligations to help Belarusian society. Such is the aim of the Conference. We want to provide forum for presenting the Polish, EU and US offer for democratic movements in Belarus.
The International Donors’ Conference will be attended by government delegations and representatives of non-governmental organizations of the EU Member States, EU candidate countries, the US, Canada and the Eastern Partnership countries (exclusive of Belarus) involved in supporting Belarusian society.
The Polish Foreign Ministry is organizing a press briefing dedicated to the International Donor Conference “Solidarity with Belarus”. The press briefing is to be held in the MFA main building (23 Szucha, Warsaw) on 1 February 2011 at 12.15 pm. Send your accreditation requests to mariusz.kosinski no later than 4.00 pm on Monday, 31 January 2011.
